Hi there all drugs for retinal diseases such Lucentis, Eylea and Avastin are given in batches of 3 to start with. These are called ‘ Loading injections’ and they help to see how well a drug may work for a patient. The one exception to this rule would be for someone with diabetes where 6 are given because in general those with diabetes may respond slower to those without. Once the 3 loading injections have been given then on the 4 th month a review is held to see how the response to the drug has been. This is generally with the patient involved and then a treatment plan is made from there individual to the patient. Hope that helps.
