I just joined this group and I am absolutely terrified. I began having blurred vision 8-9 months ago. After multiple trips to the ophthalmologist, he said I had blepharitis and dry eye syndrome and that all my issues were surface issues. My eyes have never improved with the treatments he has given me. Over the last couple of weeks, my ability to read objects 3 feet away has gotten much worse and my ability to distinguish objects clearly is failing. I got out an Amsler Grid today and I cannot clearly see all 4 corners. I am deathly terrified I have AMD and that I am going to lose my visions. The doctor had never done an OCT, but he has dilated my eyes on two occasions, and I had an additional dilated eye exam with an optometrist. Should AMD or Drusen be present during these exams? I am only 31 and just had a brand new baby. I am terrified that I won’t get to watch my children grow up and that I will be a burden to my wife. Anybody have any thoughts!

Macular degeneration scared!!!
Don't bother with optometrists...see a NEW ophthalmologist ASAP !
Hello, I know how scary it is to be looking at MD so young, I'm 32 and was diagnosed at 29 after a routine check up, if you aren't sure or happy with what you are being told then seek a second opinion, as if it is MD then depending on whether its wet or dry then the sooner the better really
Ask your optician to refer you to a specialist eye clinic. Your optometrist probably does not have the equipment to diagnose Macular disease accurately

Kind regards,
Sorry to hear about your eye problems. You really need a referral to an eye clinic where they can do tests to determine exactly what the problem is.
If it's wet macular degeneration there are injections to treat it.
Your GP or optician can refer you to an eye clinic . Best wishes.
