Flickering in vision with csr

Further to last post I only ever found one internet reference to the flickering in vision that I can see (& for me seems to signify the start of an episode of csr) which was that I was seeing the source of the leak. How true that is I don’t know...any other experiences/thoughts/confirmation appreciated. Consultant seemed baffled but not very concerned & just said anything that affects macula can cause this type of visual disturbance.

Hi

When I get a new leak, or an existing leak grows, I get a zig-zag effect; it's hard to describe but it's like a distortion where objects distort horizontally before my brain then corrects the image. For example, lamp posts appear bent on first glance and then they spring up to a vertical. It's very disconcerting while it's happening, especially with facial distortion which can make people look a bit like a horror film. Is this similar to your flickering?

Hi, that sounds horrible! I do get distorted lines too but no the flickering is within a circular shape I can see it with eyes open or closed.

Yes! I get the same! I presumed or imagine that I am seeing bleeds or leakings. I just have to keep on having injections. My sympathies and all the best,

Should have said I have full blown wet AMD, as a diagnosis. xx

Yes. Sometimes looks like glitter or sparkly rain

I don’t mention it so people don’t think I lost my marbles.

Also see the zig zag lines... while riding in a car the median and foglines are wavy and have a zig zag every few yards.

Again, don’t mention it except to my husband and doctor. But even he doesn’t really understand. The only people who do are the ones who have the same thing happening.

No it’s hard for anyone who hasn’t experienced it to really understand or understand how frightening it is

yes i see a flickering on my vision after a month of diagnose with csr. its like a dark spots that changes forms continuously, I have my csr on my right eye only, but the flickering is both my eye. How is you csr now and flickering?

After 2 years the csr still never fully resolved, although it appeared to improve somewhat with Eplerenone & thankfully isn’t central. I find it fluctuates so I can go for weeks, months even, with very little of that flickering that I described, then it reappears for a time before settling again. Sometimes reappearance seems to coincide with times of stress or too little sleep. I also have a ‘glittery’ circle when I look up & left against a plain background but think this is probably caused by an off centre area of damage. Hope yours clears up quickly as most cases do

Thanks for the reply. what you mean it did not resolved? the fluid is still there? what about your vision? for me I still have oval shaped on my vision but its like a 50% tinted car window glass, a blue in color, unlike before that is totally dark and cloudy. The doctor just prescribed me a eye drop nevanac and I used it for about 4 months now, I will again go and check for my OCT this week, hopefully the fluid drain already. This just started because of my anxiety out of control already. Hoping for you also it will resolved soon.

Yes unfortunately in my case the leak simply never fully dried up. There was always some fluid visible on OCT but levels fluctuate between appointments and I only really notice symptoms when they increase. I haven’t had an appointment or review since Feb 2020 due to Covid but nothing had changed, if anything I’ve had fewer issues probably as while furloughed less work stress. Getting anxiety under control isn’t easy but it does seem to help. Take care

I read some that they treat it with laser so the leak will sealed and the fluid will dry. Did the doctor advice you for laser treatment?

Yes I have option of micropulse or PDT - it was something we discussed at last appointment and decided to review at following appt (which never happened due to Covid). It’s a hard decision in my case as leak off centre and most of the time barely affects my vision - there are risks with laser treatment - so it is a matter of weighing up the risks and taking it from there. If it started to affect central vision I would almost certainly try laser.
