Hi Daduka, I haven't a clue about your condition, but I do know if a needle had silicon on it this can form a silicon bubble. But this shouldn't happen. Altho' you don't say you have AMD it may be some use to talk to the Macular Society who will know far more than I do. (Helpline 00300 30 30 111),

I know this isn't a particularly informative reply, but as at the moment there are no replies, I'd say hi! I wish you the best.

A retina detachment will cause distortion & there can still be distortion even after it has been repaired by laser. My wife's retina detachment was caught early & was treated by laser but she still sees things in her bad eye that are normal on the top to almost gone on the bottom. Example: When she is looking at a car in front of ours, the top of the car is normal, but her view narrows as she sees downward to a point where the tires are almost touching.

My wife also has WMD in that eye & has been getting shots for 2+ years. As has been stated in past posts, diabetics get their shot with a needle that has silicone oil on it, but non-diabetics should never allow the doctor to use the silicone oil coated needle as there have been many reports of the silicone oil remaining in the eye. I'm not 100% sure, but I think those reports indicated the oil will not dissipate on its own.

Definitely discuss both of your concerns with your Retina specialist & do not let them use a silicone oil covered needle for injections unless it is a must for your condition.

Hi Daduka I, have a different condition, but since my last bleed that has now been stopped. I have had something similar. When I look at an eye chart. The middle letter is very cear and the letters on the sides are less clear until I can not really see them. I was told by my specialist that it is how the scar stretched. It is very strange.
