Hi Dobson11, Never be afraid to bother people, especially if it concerns losing your eye sight or other health concerns. 6 weeks is totally unacceptable to wait to hear from them. Tell them you MUST get in soon or you will file a complaint.
Even if they are too busy and behind, it is no excuse to cause damage to your precious eyesight. They can squeeze you in. If necessary, see if you can get another doc/facility to take you ASAP. Hugs and good luck to you!
You must always be your own health advocate. I am a nurse and medical folk are human. Mistakes are made. Details get lost. As a nurse. I tried to advocate for my patients, yet always told them to ask questions, if something worried them to speak up. I would rather be known as a "bothersome" patient than to have something missed. Call and let us know what happens. Hugs and good luck!
This lack of timely appointments has also happened to me Ring the department - if this does not work then ask to speak to the consultant's secretary if this does not work contact the Macular disease society I would like to know how many people actually get appointments as is clinically desirable GOOD LUCK Keep a diary of your consultations and your injections
If I was you I would ring the clinic and explain the situation. If you have a bleed you need an injection ASAP. Looks a though you have been missed for some reason. Never worry about phoning if you need to.
Best wishes and I hope your clinic sorts your next injection soonest.
I also have problems getting appointments so know how you feel. Unfortunately you have to keep persisting as others have said eyesight is important. I have recently gone 11 weeks between injections due to an eye infection. Not good but no choice. I am also beginning to think the injections are not working for me as the fluid behind my eye does not seem to be going away but maybe it is due to delays.
You really must press them. There is an old saying "the only person who will manage your treatment is you!"
The policy at my clinic is immediate treatment - not 6 hours, not 6 days and certainly not 6 weeks.
Make a nuisance of yourself, email the chief executive of the trust. Let me know how you progress
Steven
Exactly the same with me at Liverpool. I have sight test, pressures, photograps, OCT, usually a slit lamp check is not needed, followed immediatey by Lucentis.
