I was diagnosed with AMD 1,5 years ago aged 33 and received 3x Avastin treatment what stopped bleeding for a year. Recently I noticed some changes so I went to check it up and I was advised to get an injection and come back in 6 weeks. I got 2nd injection a week ago. Everything was ok until now where my vision is getting very blurry and it’s like at the beginning when it all started. I’m am very Worried cause I know that injections are given every 4weeks. I don’t what else they can do to help me or what I should do to help it. I’m going to the hospital on Monday morning.

My cataract developed quickly as a side effect of using a steroid eyedrop I was taking because I got an infection folowing an Eylea injection! Still have no sight in that eye, lost it the day I got the infection. Still waiting for a cataract surgery which can be followed up by a vitrectomy to remove the debris left over from the infection. Won't know if I will regain any or all my sight until everything has been done. THAT's scary!
Hi astraliii, sorry to hear your sight is blurry again. You may possibly have a vitreous detachment which makes everything blurry. This has happened to me after an eyelia injection and is taking its time to clear , will be six months when I have next appointment in December . fortunately I haven't had any more bleeds as consultant won't inject until problem cleared up. Maybe it's a cataract but they are usually slow growing. Hope you have good news at your next appointment.
I had my eye checked today and head consultant assured me there is no infection, detachment or cataract. There is a fluid and they cannot do anything as my next injection is in two weeks so I’ve got to wait and hope that is not gonna get much worse.
It may be worth ringing your ophthalmologist via their secretary in advance of Monday and expressing your concerns.
Are you having injections for wet AMD? If so, have you another injection scheduled 4 weeks from the date of the last one?
Usually, an initial loading dose of 3 injections is given, once a month for 3 months, then the eye is reviewed. If further injections are required, then how far apart these are administered is then determined by whether an individual is receiving Lucentis or Eylea injections and in the case of Lucentis, which of the 3 possible treatment regimens they are on.
The function of the injections for wet AMD is to suppress the abnormal blood vessels developing behind the retina, stabilise the eye, maintain vision and prevent further damage.
