The person to ask is Professor Geeta Mehan. She heads up the eye clinic at FPH and will be weĺl versed in the suggestion.

Ha ha Geeta is my very own consultant at FPH. The study is at a university I might let her know I am doing it though

As said I will let her know about it I don’t think she will know anything about this study. We know each other well and I queued at the ladies with her the other week 😁But my question was has anyone tried this - as on this health unlocked site.

Yes I had a demo with it around a year ago. Although I am fortunate enough not to need it I was mightily impressed. It can read even the tiniest of small print on medications and phone chargers etc but its piéce de résistance is in face detection.

Hi Tallyho,

We had a demo of Orcam at our w @ m (working age) Macular Society group about 18 months ago. It has potential but no one was tempted to buy one, approx £2000 at the time. Most of our group are used to using screen readers and possibly didn’t see a massive advantage over the seeing AI app which is free to I phones. However if a free trial had been on offer, I am sure that quite a few of us would have given it a go! A friend who did have Orcam had to turn off the face recognition facility as she found it quite annoying! I will be interested to know how you get on, I think they have updated Orcam since our demo.
