Blood shot eye

I get injections in one eye once a month, and inevitably get a severe blood shot eye for a week afterwards. Any trick to avoiding this that I can pass on to my Dr?

Hi melene, not sure if it's because they're hitting a blood vessel ( in which case nothing they can do as they can't see them to avoid) or if it's a reaction to the iodine ( ask for more rinsing and use soothing drops regularly). The latter is usually more painful and the first often can be seen to emanate from the inj site which might help you work out which you're getting. Good luck.

It happens only 2-3 times a year, I should be grateful.

If it is bright red like blood then it is a bleed- or a bruise, pretty unavoidable to be honest.
