Eye drops

What kind of eye drops can I get from the chemist. My eye aches a lot after my eye injection yesterday.

Please be careful buying eyedrops from the pharmacist - although many people report an easing of pain by using dry eye drops, it is not advisable to self administer, post injection, without a quick chat with the clinic to make sure you're doing the right thing!

I spoke to my injector at the clinic about drops and she said use a new bottle of sterile drops for each injected eye. I use Blink intensive

Hi WADDINGTON. My Opthalmologist gave me a tube of Xaillin for my dry eyes. I found them quite good. The nurse who gives me the injections said not to do it on the day of the injection but to wait until the next day. I leave it two to three days after to be on the safe side. I have also used Theoloz Duo Gel which are quite good too but they are very difficult to get out and it hurts my wrists and thumbs (I have (RA). At the moment I am using Hylo Tear but I don't find them as good as the other two. I would check with the clinic first though as Su_HelplineMacular suggests. x

Sorry WADDINGTON, I forgot to say Xaillin Dry Eye Gel and I always get the preservative free no matter what sort I buy. x

You're very welcome. By the way, I've not long found out today that there is a Hylo Forte as well as a Hylo Tear and from the reviews I've read today, several people prefer the former to the latter (preservative free of course).

Yes, check with clinic first in case of some other issue.

Agree drops to be sterile and preservative free.

My clinic wash out then put antibiotic and soothing drops in before we leave and said OK to use soothing drops same day at home. I leave for a few hours before I do it..

Tend to use copious hypromellose first as thin and feel like they wash out well then Hylotear as thicker and feel like they moisturize better.

Superdrug . But only the Moisturising drops which have hypomelose same as the hospital ones. They are also the cheapest and use a new sterile bottle for each injection. , Hospital gives me phials of drops to use anytime after I’ve left. Sometimes I have needed absolutely no drops and other times a bottle. After 3 years I realise reactions and after effects can be different.

Here in the U.S. my Dr gives me an antibiotic liquid, one drop three times a day for three three days. Beginning day of injection. And ONLY Artificial Tears for relieving dryness. Tylenol relieves the ache and pain after anesthetic wears off.
