that's very bad eyesight- do you know why? different injector?

in reply torosyG

It was a Dr I've had before who has hit blood vessel before too but so have others. I have tortuous arteries (curly) in my eyes too which probably doesn't help!

Think it's a combination of the residual aspirin in my system (stopped a week before and won't take again for a week), and the steroid implant being a bigger procedure with an additional anaesthetic injection .

Aches a bit but getting better..

My word, eyesright, that looks bad. Looks as if you had been in a fight and I want to ask: What does the other fellow look like. But that isn't really funny under the circumstances. Has the bleeding now stopped?

in reply toAyayay80

Ha ha yep all stopped now. Will be uncomfortable for a while yet though I think. It is the worst one I've had but got me a lot of sympathy at home. And chocolate!

Oh boy that looks rough. People always say oh I couldn't let anyone put a needle in my eye, it doesn't really come with that option does it. Hope you're feeling a little less battered. What would we do without chocolate. Good luck.

in reply toJbenson

Thanks. It's slowly feeling better.

Oh poor you... I've had this fun as well and lap up the sympathy and chocs .

Now if we could all co ordinate this to happen at Halloween...just think of the folk we could scare .

Feel better soon . 🙃

in reply toEyelet

Thanks x yes never managed to coordinate with Halloween lol

Ouch!

What is the phrase, "Don't roll those bloodshot eyes at me"?

Ouch again.

That is totally unexpected. I hope it just looks worse than it is.

The technique for the implant I was told is to insert the needle at a very precise angle and then tilt it in order to drop the pellet. Perhaps that was overdone or misjudged and the residual aspirin emphasised a slight tear.

With Lucentis, immediately beforehand, I am always asked if I take aspirin but have never been warned not to take it in the days before the shot. I shall make a point of staying well away from it and any painkillers which incorporate it.

I hope it is clearing this morning.

Hi. They never ask me before, but they did after my first bleed and said that was why it was bad then. So I decided to cut back as it was just too much to deal with on top of the inj etc.

Any bleed since they ask and tell me that's why it's so much.

Don't want to stop aspirin altogether due to other health risk -just a balancing act I guess and unfortunate if they do hit a vessel.

It is getting better thanks.

Yep it looks awful, but it is a bruise. The reason it is bulging red is because the conjunctiva is transparent and movable and can accommodate 3-4mls of blood. The skin elsewhere is not transparent. Looks like it will take a good 2-3 weeks to go. Have to say its a good one!

The eye pad was soaked first night but ok now.

Hello eyesright,

Have you had an Ozurdex steroid implant due to Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO)? I gather that this is probably the case from reading posts as opposed to an injection for wet AMD.

What was the feedback from the eye clinic?

Kind regards,

in reply toRosalyn-helpline

Yes brvo. Haven't contacted clinic yet. They were fully aware at time of implant as blood was running out of eye - told me when I took pad off it would look very bad but not to worry!

I do have some double vision and will ring clinic if not gone by Monday.

Dear eyesright,

I'm glad that it seems that it seems that all is on track, although obviously not pleasant for you.

Yes, it is always important to check with the eye clinic.

I wasn't expecting a Hammer horror movie this a.m. when I logged on.

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the effect of aspirin? I'm on a baby aspirin a day and if there is any chance that stopping them (briefly) would help the painful injection, then that's what I'd do.

Next time, a romcom with chocs, please. XX

I am also on low dose daily aspirin following triple by-pass. No one at the eye clinic has mentioned anything about not taking it before injections. Anyway, that would be difficult as I never know until the scan is done, whether I will need injections.

So sorry about heart problems and hope you're now on course for better times. I hadn't heard of any involvement of aspirin until I read rennatk's answer above. Yesterday's injection was something else. So, if not taking the aspirin (briefly) helps in any way, I'm for it. Maybe it's just me... damn. The doc made it sound like I'm in for the long haul: automatic inj. for months, years...?

in reply toBobbie915

Hi Bobbie, it's not an issue re inj.

Only if you have a bleed due to them hitting a vessel, and as I've had a few where they've said aspirin made bleed worse I made decision myself to cut back (as you say, don't always know when you'll get an inj but my clinic usually take a couple of weeks at least to schedule them after a review so I have time to cut back.

Hope this clears things up for you x

in reply toBeldie

Sorry Beldie lol x

The aspirin just stops clotting hence bad bleed. Stopping it won't affect any pain.

Poor you, Eyesright. What big pupils you have or are they still dilated? The sympathy and chocs might help a little but I bet you would rather not have to go through this. I do hope it is all going to be worth it in the end. Wishing you a very speedy recovery. x x x x

in reply toBobbie915

No dilation, maybe just low light when I took the pic.

Thanks for the good wishes x

That picture makes your eye look pretty grim. I do hope it's starting to recover by now. I found even a small bruise like the one I had after the last injection hurt like crazy for most of a week so I really feel for you and hope it doesn't feel as bad as it looks. I think I would have chocs (and probably a bottle of wine) at the ready next time - can't be too careful x

in reply tokalahuchi

Thanks. Yep it's getting better and I've cut down on the painkillers. It's no wonder I can't lose weight though ha ha x
