Make sure that they irrigate your eye well after the injection in order to remove all betadine or iodine. Also wearing an eye pad to prevent blinking can help avoid discomfort.

Thank you. I'll try and put that across to the person giving the injection. It is not so easy but my Spanish is pretty good.

I believe the cause of pain when injecting lucentis is because of the strength of betadine 10%. My eye dr. Uses Betadine 5% and I experienced no pain at all. Iodine which is the active ingredient in Betadine is very irritating to an open flesh wound and the same applies to the fluid within the eyes

You could ask if they have an alternative anaesthetic most clinics do.

Also, according to the manufacturers only one drop should be required and too much may cause irritation. However, in my case mutliple drops have always worked perfectly, I have had no discomfort after 59 pokes in the eye.

I have never had my eye washed post injection.
