Does anyone know what maculopathy is? I have early stage ARMD i have also thermal burn.

'Maculopathy is damage to the macula, the part of the eye which provides us with our central vision.' ( definition from Google). Not sure about thermal burn which seems to apply to heat damage. Not heard of the term in relation to the macular before, but I am not a eye professional. Have you been exposed to excessive strong sunlight or other heat source? It is known that the blue spectrum of UV light can damage the macula amongst other factors such as smoking, genetics and diet.

Hi Ellen,

I believe Gill is correct re maculopathy; but this description can be used when someone is diabetic. I know we had a long chat with you on Friday last.

I am afraid that I really don't know about the thermal burn either. This is a question to put to the eye care professional who diagnosed you.

Thank mike. Phoned to find out about appointment. Was told letter from doctor has been sent to clinical assessment so no appointment yet. Then heard from hospital via letter saying it could be up to 14 weeks. You were right when you said it could be months. Nothing i can do about it. Thank you again for chat,
