Injections in eye.

I had the aura, or lightning-like streaks with migraines in the past. For years and years. It would leave a temporary blind spot. I had surgery 2 years ago and had the aura right after. I suspect high blood pressure and maybe a mild stroke. Same blind spot. This time it did not go away. I began the injections and had 18 . The doctor would never answer a direct question. I asked "what do I have?" Macular? Occlusion? What? At first there was improvement. Then it just stabilized. The last three shots literally put me in the bed and much pain for two days. The doctor just stopped the injections after 18. No explanation except, "Your eye is better, see the chart?" It is not better. Thoughts?

Hi Hipgranny 7, you need a firm Diagnosis..It is in-excusable, for your Eye Doctor not to give you this information.,

If you live in the UK then you should complain to your Health care Authority..

As a matter of interest what is your VA reading. your Macular

Thickness (OCT)?.

Good Luck.hope you get some answers..... yours Eve.

Hi hipgranny this is just a thought but my consultant writes to my local doctor just so it's on my record. Perhaps you could pay a visit to your doctor and see what's on your notes. Then if you are still not happy insist on seeing your consultant again and perhaps take someone with you. This gives me a bit of confidence to ask the questions or to give me a little prompt if I forget something. Hope I've helped please let me know how you get on

Thank you for your reply. I have no idea how to answer your question. I am in the U.S. To say the healthcare in this area is not up to par is an understatement. I kept asking questions and getting no answers like it was some big secret or I was stupid or something. At first I went to get a regular exam as I had been told in the past I had cataracts. I was then sent to another, then retina specialists. The symptoms are like macular but one doctor said I had an occlusion.

Thank you for your reply. I am totally frustrated with the way I have been treated with the care I have gotten on this. I did research with what I had to go on, which wasn't much. I just trusted the doctors and I am finding in this area, that can be a grave mistake.

Hi Again. It does sound from what you say,.That you may have either a Central retinal vein occlusion/or/ a branch occlusion..when you have this condition it causes macular edema.

I suffered an occlusion almost 2 years ago., I am being treated with Lucentis injections.

to treat the Macular Edema. this condition shares a lot of similarities to AMD.& some of the same treatments are used for both conditions.

If you manage to get a Diagnosis for this CRVO/Branch Occlusion..you might find more

helpful info by going on the group forum...CRVO/Google groups. Eve.
