We will be delving into the science behind Valeda light therapy for treating age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
In this session, we’ll be joined Professor Tim Jackson, consultant ophthalmic surgeon from King’s College Hospital, to explore the science behind the Valeda photobiomodulation technique. The therapy uses three wavelengths of light to stimulate the layer of cells in the back of the eye called the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), to keep them healthy for longer.
Professor Jackson will also discuss the data from the LIGHTSITE III clinical trial in more detail. The small study on 100 participants, with early and intermediate dry AMD, aimed to assess the impact of the therapy on visual outcomes and early changes to the back to the eye, as well as the development of late-stage dry AMD, known as geographic atrophy (GA).
