You need paracetamol rather ibuprofen, I wake with headaches every morning and will have them before bedtime. Take them to go to bed and then when you get up just make sure no more than 8 in 24 hrs. Ibuprofen could upset your tummy. Hope you have a good day. Xx
I totally feel your pain. I have to dose up every morning and evening, make sure curtains are closed and lights off and then stick my head under the duvet until the pain killers kick in. X
I have had this problem for so many years and have been on amitipyline for as many years my headaches are muscular you touch your head and it hurts, but its there from morning and night. How ever some 10mths ago i was put on Gagapentin, these block the nerve endings i believe ,but what ever they do they work at least to give some time with out headaches.
hope this helps x
Hi, sorry you're not feeling good. I used to suffer with headaches too but now I take so many pain killers they can't get through, I often joke that at least that's one good thing about the meds! I take pregabalin which is similar to gabapentin mentoned by janiceray, they work for all kinds of nerve related pain but are not without side effects if you do decide to consider them other people have said, try paracetamol instead of ibuprofen or even co.codamol/co dydramol, they work much better. You can take any of those with ibuprofen and alternate the tablets but just be careful you don't take too much, particularly with the paracetamol, it's so easy to overdose, especially 9when you're feeling rubbish. Hooray for lupus! Take care x
Headaches r a bugger, especially if it's a lupus or APS 1 as I find them SO bloody hard 2 shift & they can totally knock u out.
I have found learning the different types of headaches really helpful as certain types respond better 2 certain meds.
I wrote something about this a couple of months ago so will try & find it & repost.
it can help 2 learn 2 differentiate between the TYPES of headaches, eg, if it's a pressure headache, tension headache etc. I know when I have a headache, if it hurts when I put my finger on my jaw bone at the bottom of my ear & it hurts more when I open & close my mouth, I know that 4 me, this is a 'normal' headache. Get some Tiger Balm, sometimes that seems 2 b the only thing that works 4 me. Check out these links, they may help ;0)
I suffer from headaches for years, from one to nine a month,I would recommend to keep a diary to see how many you get in a month,as you may need to see a neurologist to get sorted on the right combination of drugs.I have tried so many drugs over the years and zolmitriptan ,diclofenac sodium, tramadol, and motilium for nausea, appear to work for now !
I hope you manage to get sorted out as its very debilitating x
I had really severe headaches a few years back before it was finally recognised that I was having a renal crisis. My failing kidneys caused all sort of blood pressure problems. The pain in my head made it feel like it was going to burst. There was pain behind my eyes that scared me so much I was scared of even asking about it.
Had my eyes tested at an optician, but they found nothing of concern. As things did not seem to improve I presented at Moorfields eye hospital and they told me I had had bleeding behind the eyes (both).
Even thought I raised these concerns at the time, the signals were not picked up. It was only when I was in a severe renal crisis that I was admitted to hospital and all the dots were joined.
None of this may necessarily apply to you, but make a fuss if you honestly believe you have need to. Its your best bet.
