My recent ANA has come back within normal limits. Does this mean that SLE is well controlled?
ANA now negative: My recent ANA has come back... - LUPUS UK
ANA now negative
That's what my Rheumatologist says. Mine is nearly there, too. Good luck!
Thankyou first time in three years hope you will get there to.
Slightly tricky question - where I'm concerned at any rate. My ANA count has been fairly normal for some years. That could be seen as "well controlled" vis a vis it having ceased attacking my vital organs but, in fact, the joint pain, fevers, migraines etc. continue to grow worse every year and are now extremely disabling. Mind you, I am 30 years down the road with this wretched blight so have had a good run for my money!
You poor thing. I have had enough after only 8 (and it took me 3 to admit I was ill).
Take care,
Thanks Maggie It's a bit like Custer's last stand now, lol, bit I am still capable of standing, albeit not for long! Blardy wolf! You take care too <3
I had the bloods taken as i thought my sle wasnt as well controlled as previously. Some of my old symptoms had reappered and new ones added. Was surprised by this result.
I had a titre of 1:640 which is now 0.1 but I also have low compliments, c3 and c4 which are circulating immune complexes so I know these are the nasties responsible for causing havoc too, despite my low ans now. Perhaps its the same for you too? I also have low lymphocytes and high white cells they are all over the place. I was diagnosed just over a yr ago still trying to find that great drug to sort out the compliments but I haven't been able to work and only have a couple hrs in the day where I feel normal. I also have cryoglobulinemia which is giving me probs this winter.

My ANA's have always been in normal range, this doesn't stop Lupus from damaging my body though!
Yes, my ana's were raised only once in 2006, since then normal. But very high antiphospholipids an cardiolipids. But was told by dr Sanna two days ago that it whether they are high or low it still does not mean much in terms of severity of symptoms etc.
Thank you all for your answers was slightly worried that they may stop my meds.
Interesting, My rheumy said as my ANA last april was negative I did not have SLE despite symptoms and previous positive tests. He has now settled on a probable diagnosis of palindromic arthritis because of this and because the dermatology registrar I saw said my symptoms were possibly lupus but not conclusive (he left her consultation results to decide his diagnosis). & despie a recent flare of symptoms he has still not repeated bloods since that negative at the begining of april.
