Affirmations
Hi Larissa, I'm so sorry if you are flaring right now. I have ta few sayings that help me personally:
1. It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul. (few lines from Nelson Mandela poem).
2. When I need a no nonsense talk to myself I use "If I can't change something then I have to change the way I think about it". This is not always possible to do but I try.
3. I sing a line from Monty Python's "Always look on the bright side of life da da, da, da de da". Even typing it now it makes me laugh
What a fab question and I look forward to hearing what sayings others use. xx
I find some of the Lighthouse Families songs quite inspiring. I love the line,
"Whatever gets you through the day".
I say to myself 'healing is children's bread and healing belongs to me' .
i say 'this too will pass ' its from a Echart Toll book .
I am thankfully not flaring at the mo but was wondering what others think to help them get through and i am most definately gonna steal some of your sayings !!!!
I remind myself that there is always someone worse than me, in more pain, less able to move, more scared about what;s to come (not always easy to do I know)......and listen to some music that brings back happy memories/
Best things ever said to me;
You will get your life back.
You cannot fight this thing head on, Accept that it is bigger than you.
Think of your energy like it was money, spend only half of what you think you have. And invest whats left in your recovery.
Do not worry about the things you cannot change. Acceptance is the key to emotional wellbeing.
Celebrate every tiny victory.
Carry Chocolate in your pocket.
be well - Martin
