I am planning to take ill health retirement I am 47 years old and I feel it's time for me to
stop being in pain and to also start living my life.
I need to spend more time with my loved ones and less time in hospital. It Is going to be really hard as I have worked since I was 16 years old but now I'm just tired and want to enjoy my life a bit better. Without being in pain every day.
I have worked in a preschool too....off work at more. A very active job, little children permanently have colds which I can't shake off, I can't do the physical stuff and my brain is too fogged to feel responsible as I would like.....luppy chick, I empathise totally. I have no idea what the answer is....
I changed from full time veterinary nurse to telephone marketing that I do from home (p/t) & mid day assistant in a primary school. I know what you mean about not able to shake off the colds!! TBH the phone work bores me RIGID but I need the money to pay bills!
I was a teaching assistant working mostly with children with special needs. I loved the job but eventually had to give up. I used to go home at the end of the day and have no energy wanting to go to bed. My brain fog also got in the way.
I feel sorry for you but it may be time to put yourself first.
Hi, I was a children's social worker until last year and like you all am thinking what can I do next. The physio suggested today I could get a job where I have one or two cases and 15 hours a week.....well in terms of social work that will be hard to find. Time to think about can I work again and if so what will it be? I shift my perspective on this as sometimes I think I can and other days I think it is an impossibility. It's a hard decision as I have worked already for 30 years (almost 50)..... guess it comes down to a health or lifestyle choice. I can empathise with all above.
