My oficial diagnosis at the moment is UCTD... I have a travelhealth insurance linkded to my

back account - so it's in place all year.

I told them about UCTD (they have classed it as MCTD) but didn't have to pay amy extra, which I though was really good. Overall I pay £12 a month for my A/C and get Travel Insurance, AA and other things at no extra cost. So - maybe worthing looking into???

X

From the Lupus UK website - Freedom Insurance Services

Travel Insurance is essential when planning a holiday because illnesses and accidents can become traumatic and expensive when you are abroad. Their aim is to provide security and peace of mind that will allow you and your travelling companions to relax, unwind and enjoy your holiday.

Freedom Travel Insurance is a service that has been developed in partnership with groups in the medical sector including LUPUS UK. All the usual benefits are included in the Freedom Travel Insurance packages.

Their philosophy is to offer exactly the same cover to people with pre-existing medical conditions as enjoyed by others. However, people without a medical condition can use the scheme too. Partners, friends and relatives will also be able to take advantage of the package of benefits.

Using Freedom Travel Insurance may result in a donation to LUPUS UK. This will support the valuable work of the charity and involve no cost to the buyer.

As with most insurance contracts/products that take into account medical conditions there is a health screening. This is completed by telephone. The assessment is conducted by specially trained staff. They aim to make the process convenient, sensitive, confidential and discreet.

For a quotation please call 01223 446914 or you can find out more about them on their website freedominsure.co.uk

Hi

I get my travel insurance through my Halifax ultimate reward card, you are covered the whole year and I just pay £15 for the year to add my SLE onto it.

I have also used Freedom Travel insurance for the past 2 years. I phoned my bank as I have travel insurance with them but it is only basic and if anything happened I would not be covered. Freedom is underwritten by AXA and you answer all the questions over the phone which is a lot easier than filling in forms. I get insurance to cover our family so if something happened to me and I couldn't go on holiday they would be covered also. It costs a little more for medical insurance for us but not excessively so and I feel happier knowing it is in place. Have a good holiday.

I added my illness last year, We have Royalties account with RBS, which covers insurance for the year. Enquired as to an upgrade to cover me for SLE Lupus. They charged me £128 extra for the year. My Lupus really has not given me too many issues over the years. Just worried that by not adding it they may not pay out on anything.
