Hi Scottie, sorry to hear of your problem with incontinence. Firstly I think you should rule out an infection, as you have an appointment Monday, take a fresh specimen of urine for testing ( discard the first amount you pass and collect the next one) Sounds as if you may have weak bladder muscles, try going to the loo every 30mins even if you don't pass any urine this will help you develop a pattern which you can gradually extend. When you pass urine stop after a few seconds and hold count to five and then continue to pass urine this may help to tighten the muscles. In between toilet visits you can practice some pelvic floor excercises. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. You can also buy those little pantie liners to protect your clothes. Don't feel embarrassed about mentioning your problem to the GP, he will have heard it all before. Take care .

Hi ya this is awful problem I felt so embarrassed when this happened to me as only 29 mine was happening mostly when coughed or sneezed or I'd any exercise got really bad but spoke to my gp about it and he said was stress incontinence but gave me some tablets to help strengthen muscles and told me to do some pelvic floor exercises. However I didn't take tablets just concentrated on doing pelvic floor exercises all time. Best test is to try stop when going toilet see how strong your muscles are! I noticed even after few days of doing this made a big difference already. Hope it gets better soon. Xx

I saw an incontinence nurse a few times and i have to admit i was a bit sceptical about trying pelvic floor excersises, but hey,i gave them a go and have never looked back.I had a hysterectomy when i was 28 and didnt really have anything to keep my bladder supported for 18 years,i often have small leaking which is annoying but thr pelvic floor excersises are a great help, you can do them anywhere, sitting. Standing etc.

Hope you get sorted,sandy.
