What exercise do you do to fight Flares
I have been told by my consultant that back pain/spine is not a symptom of lupus and to seek other occupational health therapy for this. It could be triggered or made worse from sitting position at work, watching tv, computer work etc... the inflammation is mainly to the smaller joints...
So it may be worth you seeing a physiotherapist or similar to get some specific advice for you..
Chi gong [ like tai chi] can be done lying or sitting if you have too, but best standing. As it's gentle, restorative, relaxing and rejuvenating I'ave found it useful as a daily practice. It strengthens me and settles scattered energy so its great for stress!. It has exercises specific to organs i.e. heart, lungs, etc which you can do if needed. Use only 70% of your energy to do it and find a gentle experienced teacher. Yoga for me gives a flexibility in my spine and joints, noticeable when i skip a few days! The cat pose, downward dog and many others are fantastic for my spine. Bonus is the relaxation! and energy! I feel at the end of a session.Again find a teacher/ friend/ Utube/ that you jell with. The 'hard out' vigorous yoga, biking, tennis on the joints! extra vigorous gardening I'ave learnt to say "no thanks."
Let us know how you get on and Good luck.
