hi im emma and have lupus: i im emma and have lupus... - LUPUS UK
hi im emma and have lupus
well emma i after take a strong pain killer its apart of having lupas
i no its part of lupus i am on lots of strong painkillers but it doesnt help, i got lupus really bad and have had for 14 years but it getting uncontrollable
I also have loads of pain with it, but if possible do not lay in bed too long, even if you can only get up and wander round the house or garden for a short while. It will hurt but if you lay in bed you will stiffen even more, very hard I know. Unfortunately it is part and parcel of lupus.
Good luck and hugs.
so sorry to here you in pain. are you on any steroids?? I found that this helped me a great deal and have little pain and swelling in my joints now. Speak to your consultant. Hope this helps. Keep well xx
Hi Emma, I have to agree with Clairebear as I have found steroids to be a great help. If you aren't due a consultants appointment soon ring his secretary and tell her your symptoms then they may rush you an appointment through. Good luck. Take care, Angela xx
Hi Emma - has your GP prescribed any anti-inflammatory medication? Seems like you could do with a review by a Rheumatologist.
There is a strong temptation to lie in bed when everything aches, but you do need to get the blood circulating or the swelling will increase. Try doing it in stages ( I am guessing this is how most of us do it....). If possible - is there someone who can get you a warm drink when you wake up? (If not - have one by your bed). This is a great help, as it boosts blood sugar - a kick start to your day. Sometimes, I can hardly walk to the bathroom, so have to sit on the bed and swing my legs until I can put weight on them.
Forgive me, if you already do these things........there's also pads you can get from medical aids suppliers online - that fasten around your joints in bed (knees, ankles, elbows...) to ease the pressure of bone on bone. I also have to have one for my neck, because of cervical spondylosis ..... doesn't do much for my love life, but at least I'm more comfy asleep!
