Someone mentioned you should let the DVLA know/car insurance if you have lupus/fibro. Is this something we should do?
Has anyone who drives mentioned lupus/fibro to DVLA? - LUPUS UK
Has anyone who drives mentioned lupus/fibro to DVLA?
My consultant said unless I had blackouts then there was no need for the dvla to be told.
Thank you for this info.
This is something i hadn't even thought about, but I have just looked on the DVLA Medical Conditions site and Lupus and fibro are not listed as something you have to tell them about, but I'd Check it out,
As for insurance Companies I dont know, more web serchinh I guess.
Hope this helps
Thank you for looking into this. Why I was looking into this was someone I know was asked this question when they went for their ESA medical. (Different condition-more minor) As I heard this I wondered if it was something that is required - I have my ESA medical soon so wanted to know the answer.
Hi Loopy -lou
The Esa,,medical will not ask you this question,,only questions about yourself and how you cope daily living with Lupus/fibro.
You are best if you can to take someone with you and maybe not drive if you are feeling in pain that day,,maybe a relative or friend to support you ,they are welcome at the medical and their comments are listened too also.Good luck,,,
Hi Jinny
I am going to take my son with me. I had thought of this as I forget things at times and I don't as you well know how I will feel that day. Also it is an hours drive from me- plus time to park (there is no parking on the site). This all seem crazy. There must have been a reason my friend was asked-
Just done my car insurance online and they just wanted to know if I had informed DVLA of any notifiable medical conditions.
Thank you for this -
I drive on blues at work. To do this I have had to pass rigorous medicals and driving exams (I have SLE). Unless seizures or blackouts are a feature, it shouldn't be an issue.
