Shingles 'live' vaccination. Has anyone with Lupus had the vaccination?

I have had 6 shingles attacks in the last 8 mths and am considering asking to be vaccinated, but am unsure how the lupus will react.

Have you asked your rheumy? I was under the impression we are not supposed to have "live" vaccines with SLE. Worth asking - sorry to hear you have had shingle attacks on top of everything else. Sorry not to be of any real help. Take Care.

Not live please ask your Rheumy first as you might trigger a Flare

I also suffer from recurrent shingles, prior to my diagnosis of Lupus I was given a four month course of anti-viral drugs by my Immunologist which dampened down the shingles for a while, but it eventually reared it's ugly head again about a year later. I now keep in an emergency course to be taken at the first sign of an outbreak.

My Immunologist told me that some people can take lifelong anti-virals for recurrent shingles, maybe that would be something worth discussing with your doctors?
