bad flare

Hello,

I have SLE. I haven’t had a flare this bad in many years. I have been in bed with fatigue and other symptoms for 10 days.

When should I get in touch with the rheumatology clinic at the hospital? (I’m in the UK,)

Thanks so much!

Hi. Sorry you are feeling bad. Personally as its still going on I would just ring the rheumy department , the nurses usually get back to me in the same day with advice. They are not Lupus experts but it's good to get someone to listen and suggest remedys, they have much more idea than the GP, nice as they are. Don't know if that works the same in your area, it should. Hope it gets better soon ❤️

Thanks so much! In the end I called the rheumy nurse and my GP. The nurse helpline has become a ‘we’ll get back to you in 3 days’ line. The GP fit me in and has put me on a short course of prednisone. First time taking it. 🤞

Oh that's great. Try and get off it ASAP, tail it off slowly never all at once. But it's a great cure for an annoying flare. It has its uses. I'm stuck on 1mg , seems to do the job but I can increase it if I start flaring ..Hope it works well for you ❤️

Yes, I’m doing 10mg daily until Friday. 🤞

Hi, I’d call the Rheumy nurse for advice, wouldn’t do any harm. Hope you feel better soon. 🤗

Thanks! I called both in the end. Now hoping that prednisone knocks the flare in the head. 😊
