Hi I’ve just started on Mepacrine only took 1 tablet and was violently sick all the next day!

Morning I was on mepacrine for a few months I wasn't sick on it but I have come off it now and taking methotrexate. On mepacrine I did have yellowing of skin and skin dry and very itchy on legs so it was lowered but wasn't helping with joints so changed to methotrexate. Since coming off it my skin and skin tone is now normal and I have noticed my mood is better since stopping
I have been on Mepacrine a year and it has been a game changer, reducing photosensitibity, fatigue, POTS type symptoms, joint pain and fevers. I take 50 mg three times a week in combo with average 300mg Hydroxychloroquine a day.
I waited until after Christmas and New Year as there was a warning that some people got side effects if drink alcohol whilst on Mepacrine 🥴🍺🍷. Fortunately since then learnt I'm not affected by this, and did have the celebratory glass or two this Christmas.
Having said that I did have issues to start with. Instead of receiving yellow 100 mg mepacrine tablets to cut in half, I got white capsules with half a yellow tablet and white granulated powdery mixture in.
A pharmacist advised me to take the half tablet out and just take that. I was fine, so it was filler and capsule causing issues. Here is my post on what happened.
(I now have 100 mg yellow tablets to cut in half and no side effects.)

It is important to liase with whoever prescribes. There are different laboratories producing the drug.
Good morning Yes I tried this as well as I was having a lot of headaches with hydroxychloroquine. Within an hour of taking it I was violently sick, I tried once more the next day and the same thing happened.
My lupus has now worsened so am now on hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate.
Best wishes. X
