I'm new to Lupus

Hi beautiful people,It's been a tough 3 years of hospital visits for one thing or another. I have now just(last week) had the results of some blood tests, with a negative ANA but a positive dsDNA(91) with a butterfly rash. Coeliac and Autoimmune hepatitis being spoken about. Removing gluten has helped a great deal as my cortisol has calmed down and allowing so much needed sleep. My question is the above blood test and what it means 🤔

I'm have been referred to rheumatology but no appointment just yet.

Thanks x

Welcome to the group, this is a really good friendly group. I can’t help you with your blood tests as mine keep coming back negative, it was a biopsy that diagnosed me, but your Rheumy appointment will do more tests and will explain everything to you. Best wishes.

I am the same as you negative ana but had a positive dsdna which gave me the lupus diagnosis. I was 51 on my dsdna result and she said that was high. Yours is much higher although every hospital has different scales of measuring dsdna but you are definitely positive. Good thing is once on hydroxychloroquine your dsdna should come down. Mine is near normal normal now as hydroxychloroquine dampens down your immune system so you should get much less inflammation causing high dsdna reading.

Hello I’m sorry it’s been hard on you and I definitely understand. I’m glad a gluten free diet has helped and I think I I’m gonna try that as well. Your dsdna is high and I’m glad your going to specialist to help you along this journeyand hope you have a good one. Keep us updated and well wishes to you!
