Hi, I have been on Lansoprazole 30mg for a few years now and I found one brand that helped me most other brands did not seem to help at all.

At first the doctor tried me on Omeprasole but they did not work unfortunately so they tried me on Lansoprazole 30mg and took a while to find the one with the right ingredients but they helped a lot so now I seem to have settled down with the bad reflux, it was that bad it burnt my mouth so the only thing I can say is to try a different brand until you find the one that suits you.

I was the same but my daughter works in a pharmacy and she had a word with the pharmacist and he said the different brands such as (aspire, Teva etc) they have different additives in them and quite a number of them just didn't work properly, the Teva brand suits me the most and they gave me 15mg for in the day as well so hopefully you will find one that works for you.

The pharmacist was right in saying that different brands of the same medication can have different formulations. The active ingredient will always be the same, it is the excipients, or inactive ingredients that may change. In certain cases people can be sensitive to one or more of these ingredients, which can cause issues for them, and a change of brand should be prescribed. All brands, however, will "work" correctly, otherwise they would be reported and withdrawn. To make sure you get the brand of anything that suits you, particularly if others don't, ask your GP to actually name that brand on your prescription.

Hi thank you that is what I have done and the doctor has put on my prescription the brand that is best suited to me but my appointed pharmacy cannot always get the brand I need so now I have to ask for my prescription to be done on the spine so I can phone round to all the pharmacies to find who has some stock, it is quite annoying that I have to do this each month but it's better than my husband having to drive me round to them all to find the right one.

A lot of people now have to request paper prescriptions for many named-brand meds so that they can get these dispensed at any pharmacy that is able to supply them. It seems to be an annoying fact of life today nowadays, unfortunately.
