I am a woman aged 53.

Iwas diagnosed with lupus two weeks ago. However, I was not given any treatment. I got no advice on what to do next. I am supposed to go for blood tests in 3 months. Please any tips after diagnosis. I feel lonely with diagnosis and nothing said after that.

Any tips on diet or what foods to avoid will be appreciated.

Was it a rheumatologist that diagnosed you. They would normally get you to make another appointment before you leave the hospital or send you out another one in post. They should have done that. I usually get my bloods done after my appointment as well but every hospital is different. I would call her secretary and ask or if she gave you a number to call the specialist nurse if you have problems.

Hi Muzvare I am so very sorry you have been left with such a huge diagnosis and no support or advice. It really is not good enough. There is a Rheumatology Helpline if you look on your Local Heath board site and you can ring and leave a message for a specialist nurse to get back to you who will be able to give you advice.

Lupus UK also has a of books that are really affordable and easy to read which will give you an awful lot of information. This site is amazing too. If you have specific questions someone here will be able to help you. Good luck xx

Do you have any documentation following your diagnosis? If so, then there should be a reference and a means of contact. If nothing, then I'm afraid you'll have to go back in person to the reception area & not leave until you're satisfied. Just saying "you've got lupus" & leaving it at that is simply atrocious!
