Hi, I have been on methotrexate for 9 weeks and am starting with a head cold.Do I need to inform anyone? It's the first "illness" since starting methotrexate.

Methotrexate and a head cold
I'm on mycophenolate and was told if I got a viral infection I must stop immediately. I made the mistake of not thinking that a bit of a cold is viral but of course it is. I carried on taking it and was very poorly, took me ages to get over it. I assume your med is in the same category. Check it out asap with medics.
Hi
I’ve been a MTX for years. My rheumatologist says that if I get a cold to stop the medication. If I’m ill more than 2 weeks to reach out for advice.
In January I got a horrible flu and forgot to stop taking MTX. I had a cough for 2 months and it took longer to recover.
I’d reach out to your doctor for advice.
Maggie
It's worth speaking to your doctor. Mine kept me on mycophenolate even when l had covid, twice.
Speak to your GP . I've made that mistake and become ill with a chest infection for months. Methotrexate reduces you immune response and disguises symptoms so often better to stop but get advice. Especially if you have a sore throat! Get well soon!
