Thank you for sharing. My daughter has been following progress in these studies. She is only 22 and has severe SLE. I just forwarded this article to her. Hope 2024 will be a year of advance in Lupus research. She hopes she will be able to participate in trials. Her doctors tell her she is not well enough, however if I read this article patients were also very ill. Does anyone have any experience in participating in trials?

Hi Walkinglondon, I was involved in the trial for Benilumab a few years ago.

I was diagnosed with Mild SLE in 2008. Trust me, it didn't feel mild to me. But in 2015 it started to attack my kidneys. I was then offered the Benilumab trial.

I was told I would either get the real thing or a placebo. Immediately after the first infusion, I bet the trial team everything that I was on the real thing. I felt a 1000 times better and felt I had some of my life back.

It might be worth asking your daughter's consultant's if they would consider Benilumab for your daughter.
