Good morning all, I need your positive vibes/prayers/rainbows/cat and puppy photos please. I have been experiencing shortness of breath with fever the past 3 days, triggered by a mild cold, and have decided to see the doctor today. This decision has brought on a mild sense of panic.
Why? Because I suffered a very similar episode last year and ended up being off work for 6 months.
I truly don’t know what I’ll do if I have to go through that again. So I’m trying to take things one step at a time, one decision at a time. ‘OK, first thing is to ring the doctor when they open.’ ‘Next thing will be to tell my manager.’ etc. And the good news is the dyspnea is not as severe as it was last year; I’m still functional. Yay! But regardless, it is all rather worrying and stressful. Will they send me for tests? Will they send me to hospital? I don’t particularly want my week upended by all this, especially when it may go away on its own, and especially as it’s my birthday week!
Please send encouragement, commiserations, common sense advice, and let me know if you can relate. Thank you wonderful community!

Hi Here is Hugo a 5 month old we rehomed last month after losing our old boy at the age of 13 1/2. Oh to be that flexible 😆
I can relate to recurrent breathing issues I've had them for 10 years .try not to stress it will only make your breathing worse. If its any consolation I had a chest infection in June and lower lobe pneumonia in Sept and I stayed at home with both and a couple of courses of antibiotics.

Don't think Millie (14 1/2) agrees with you lol 😆 If its been triggered by a cold it could just be a case of you are either just taking longer to get over it or it's a AI reaction that needs abit of help to settle down. I tend to know when I can stay at home and when I have to accept I need to go into to hospital for iv steroids. Xx

Usually on the dog bed in front of the stove lol. Yes millie was our first springer and she's falling to bits ...she's deaf as a post and has arthritis in her front legs but it was marley who didn't ail a thing who we lost after all his legs went.vet thinks he had a tumour on his spine .pleased you are having a good morning. When in doubt bring on the puppies, et al and what a beautiful poopy he is. A beautiful Springer. Gorgeous! Thank you so much for rehoming him. It's great to know he's fully settled in, not allowed on furniture - tick. I love them. We lost ours 2 years ago. I had a lovely boy when I was at home, many years ago (I'm an old lady now) just like Hugo. He was a Rufus and he loved me the best! All we need now is Skye and Finlay. Where are you? Thanks for bringing some much needed cheer today, for me, personally. I'm struggling with being overwhelmed by the world, so am fortunate, for the time being as I seem to be physically stable 🙏. Love, peace and light if you are all struggling in whatever way. It's hard to know what to say to make things seem better, so good shout to bring on all things of cuteness. Hi.Cav. im in Cumbria uk just been battered by storm debi on Monday. Its been a hard year for me losing my mum then 3 weeks later losing marley our other springer.then I had the pneumonia then I fell over Hugo and a neighbours dog and broke my elbow.Hugo cracks me up the way he sleeps. The previous owners hadn't had a dog before,at 5 months he wasn't toilet trained ,hadn't been on a lead and didn't answer to a name Hugo is our choice. He's now 6 months old and we've nailed it all but hes still abit nervous on the lead in strange places.
I am truly in awe of you. What a beautiful soul. Springers aren't my first choice if you've never had a dog, me thinks! Losing a Mum - I can't offer you any advice - been without mine for 11 years and I still re-live it most days. Miss that female point of view... I truly and utterly hope that things will look up for you, in the way that Hugo is finding. I'm off to bend me older ladies about in Chair Yoga. They bring me a huge amount of comfort and are a real and utter inspiration. 🙏❤️💋😁
No definitely not.inexperienced people don't realise they come with a 200% battery rechargeable with a 10 min power nap. Iuckily I'm 2 mins from a beach.Mum was 91 do I can keep it in perspective.
Correct again with the Springers battery life and their utter zest for everything. Love 'em! What you see is what you get as far as I'm concerned, even as a puppy. They're mad as a box of frogs, always. Well done your Mum, what a wonderfully long life she had. We have a lady in our village who is 103 and joins in everything, except my yoga 🤔😁. I am getting better at living with my Mum's death, but it was a bit unexpected, which she would've wanted. Selfishly, as always, I didn't expect it to happen quite as it did. It made me grow up quite a bit. She was 75, so she did have a good life in her middle years and later life. Saw her lovely and only (still) 2 grandsons, so I try not to feel resentful too much. Some days, it still hurts, but then I have this lovely community who cheer me up with dogs, cats, etc. Still waiting for a snake or a lizard, maybe...? Thanks for taking the time to reply; I feel less alone now and to all of you with your lovely photos. 🙏 ❤️
Sorry you still struggle with the loss of your mum.Mum was on end of life for 10 days which wasn't nice to see. Thankfully both my daughter and I have end of life experience so have seen it all before. Always here for a chat especially about boxes of frogs lol 😆 xx

Thank you…this was triggered by a cold so pretty sure it’s not vitamin- or thyroid-related, my vitamins and thyroid are typically normal. Still, we’ll see what the next few days brings.
I’ve had 3 bouts of chest infections this year and think I’m about to start 4th! Strong antibiotics & week worth of steroids seems to settle it for a few months, waiting for hospital appt.
I see you’ve had swabs done 🤞 they come back with good results and you’ll be sorted for your birthday celebrations 😊

Hi everyone - when I was really bad with my Lupus symptoms the air con or heaters in the car or in office or your home - triggered a chest infection by drying out the mucous membrane within that area which is there to protect us from germs.
Oh dear that's not good for chesty issues - the heat is as bad as the cold in the UK - how about water dishes around the house to make the air more moist (not damaging moist) my Father used to hang a jar of water on his radiators so that the air didn't become too dry for him.
Not a bad idea. I do keep a few windows open as I like fresh air. But we’re heading dead into an Australian summer, and well, I like to sleep at night!
Hang in there!!!!! Try to take it easy. Pllleeeaaassseee. Take the day off if you can and reflect. If you recognised the symptoms early, May be rest and slight life style change possibly a week of rest and eat healthy and stay away from stress might prevent further involvement. Of course you have to take it easy longer and make as much adjustment as you can I. The coming months.Thinking about you and lots of love.. x
Thank you so much…I took some time off for med appts today and have an easy day tomorrow, just a day of attending online training. Easy peasy. I totally agree with staying away from stress, it’s such a massive trigger eh?
Make it stop (don't stop)I'm having such a wonderful time. How much more cuteness? My son, when he was little (he's now 30) had a dog like this that was fondly known as "Teddy Bear Dog!" You've just got to have two. Double Bubble 🙏❤️😁
UPDATE: good news everyone! My swabs came back all clear for everything, including COVID-19! I am still a little breathless, but hopefully it will simply resolve on its own. I can still function with it, as it is not too severe. And the doc said to come back if it gets worse, or go to hospital if it gets much worse. It’s a wait-and-see game, but fingers crossed my body will do what it’s meant to do and heal itself. Thanks everyone for your support, well wishes and cute pet pics!
