Surely one only needs oxygen therapy if one’s blood O2 % level as measured by a fingertip pulse oximeter is less than 92%. Mine is usually greater than 98%?

Hence my chronic fatigue and low energy must be due to lupus or perhaps microscopic blood clots in my lungs?🧐πŸ₯Ή

Hey Betty, no that's not the case. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to be very helpful for many different conditions πŸ‘Œ

The most well known autoimmune disease it helps is MS but if you have a quick Google search you will be able to see for yourself πŸ˜€ I do have an Instagram Post on my page @healthcoach_hamish if you fancy having a look

Thanks for the response!

According to the U.K. NHS hyperbaric oxygen treatment or any other form of oxygen treatment (eg by oxygen concentrator machine) has to be prescribed by a qualified medical specialist doctor.

I’m aware that some terminally ill lung cancer patients have home based oxygen concentrator machines prescribed for end of life care at home for self administration or otherwise. IDK.

Hi Betty, you've got to do whatever you're comfortable with 😊

My centre, like many other centres across the UK, is run by a charity. I did not need a doctor to prescribe it. I would highly recommend consulting with your doctor before trying it, though πŸ‘

Your doctor/specialist probably won't know anything about the benefits, but I would like to think they would know of any reason why it wouldn't be suitable for you πŸ˜ƒ

I think the Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic have information on HBOT.

Hi. Never tried it, but read about its use in treating fibromyalgia some years ago.

Glad it's worked for you.

I tried it once but I have to say it made no difference at all to me. However we need to try whatever is offered.

Sorry, it didn't work for you. When you say once, do you mean one session? If so, it's an accumulative effect kind of thing. It might be worth trying it for 30 days to see if it helps πŸ‘

Definitely worth a try. Lots of these chambers are charity run. I pay Β£100 per month for as many sessions as I want πŸ‘Œ

Interesting to read that you have and the outcome has been good. I have read about it and looked into it but didn't feel it would be safe to try. And also not easy to find a place to try it either in London. Did they warn you of any side effect or who isn't allowed?

Hey Paprika60, you must consult your healthcare provider to ensure there are no contraindications with whatever treatment plan you are on πŸ‘ but there aren't many side effects. Sometimes, after the first session, you may feel tired, but that will quickly pass.

In my local chamber, it is 80% long COVID, and the rest is a mix of ME and autoimmune conditions. It has been known for years that MS suffers experience massive relief from HBOT. Considering that all autoimmune diseases are similar in the sense that it's the immune system attacking the healthy tissue, it makes sense that it would help many other conditions πŸ‘Œ

The main symptoms it helps them with are pain, mental clarity and fatigue, which is precisely what I have experienced βœ…

It's routinely used for injuries/wounds that are slow healing.
