Infusion or tablets for covid?

Tested positive this morning and have had a call asking which I wanted. Consultant apparently ringing later to discuss. I was put on the spot and said tablets to avoid a 1 hour drive but wondering if the infusion would be a more sensible choice. Any advice?

consultant has advised tablets as not severely symptomatic and LFTs and kidney function normal 😃

I had tablets because of my current meds and my lupus symptoms. They worked fine and stopped the Covid symptoms in their tracks. Didn’t get worse and I had a relatively mild version in the end.

Thanks Lulu, very reassuring 🙏 I’m 2 doses in. They were delivered exactly 12 hours after registering my result so very impressive system 😍

Yes I had tablets twice and all fine, i dont know what the difference of having tablets or infusion would be actually? Did ur consultant say? Was it dependent on how significant ur symptoms were?

She said they were as effective as each other but would feel better quicker with infusion but same end result. As LFTs and kidney function normal and symptoms not too bad at the time she recommended the tablets.

Sorry to hear you have tested positive, i hope it will be mild . I had the infusion when i had covid, i was told that the tablets were contraindicated with the meds im on , at the time i forgot to ask which meds, i was probably a bit flustered. Best wishes 🤗🤗

Hi Can you say please whether you have SLE & what meds you are taking please? Interested to know if you are using hydroxy or methotrexate and whether the type of meds you use influenced the consultants decision to supply you with the covid treatment. Many thanks & get well soon.

Thanks Beeman. I have SLE and take Hydroxychloroquine, Methotrexate Prednisolone( 9mg) and I also take Simvastatin which ruled out one antiviral, not sure which.

I had infusion on day 5 & I was feeling better then by decided to have them anyway. I was visiting my relative in hospital recently & everyone that whom visited caught covid...... I didn't so I believe they saved me.
