hi saw my specialist this week and have received my blood and urine results which indicate stage 2 kidney disease.

Can kidney problems be unassociated to Lupus?

I have Lupus, raynaurds and other related autoimmune conditions. (That I can’t spell )

I would be grateful for any feedback.

Best wishes Sandy

”Can kidney problems be unassociated to Lupus?…”

======

Absolutely yes!👆But lupus nephritis needs to be eliminated. Could be kidney stones?👆

Check out lupus nephritis (glomerulonephritis) and its various stages. An inflammatory autoimmune disease of the filtration units of the kidneys.

See a properly qualified nephrologist urgently please!!

As Betty says - yes, anyone can have stage 2 renal disease

kidneyfund.org/all-about-ki....

Many patients get lab results back that say "Stage 2 CKD" when just the eGFR is in that range - it isn't until there are other things in the results there is anything to worry about but the lab computer flags up the result as in that range. Your GP should have had the results too and someone will contact you to say they want to see you about the results if there is anything they consider needs attention and you will be referred to the renal specialist at your hospital. If you don't hear - call the GP practice.

Thank you for your reply and confirming that stag 2 is not necessarily Lupus related. Best wishes Sandy

stage 2 is mild with a eGFR of above 60.the only way to get a definative diagnosis is by having a kidney biopsy. I was diagnosed with class v lupus nephritis after a biopsy in 2018. X

I had stage 3a CkD, my GP checked my bloods every month, I was told they wud only refer me if it went into stage 4 as stage 3 is still relatively mild to moderate. I was lucky that it went back down after 3 months. I get bloods checked on a regular basis so it would flag up.

I’ll stop researching OMRON now 😉

I think it's unlikely since kidney disease is common in lupus
