medication sensitivity, problem with getting the right brand.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone have difficulty with getting the right brand medications due to hypersensitivity.

I am hypersensitive to meds and chemicals. Due to this i can only take certain brands of meds, otherwise i go into a flare. My pharmacists tries his best to acquire them for me, but most of the time its near on impossible to get the right ones. He says some times he cannot purchase them due to price restrictions of the NHS. He said in order to get the ones i need consistently, i may have to pay the price difference. I am prepared to do this, but don't know what the cost will be, he is going to do the costing and get back to me.

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, have you found a way around it?

Your feed back will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi fieldI can only take Quinorec brand of hydroxychloroquine due to being lactose intolerant. My pharmacist said the same to me as Quinorec is a more expensive brand, but my gp surgery agreed to cover the cost.

Hi JCZW, thank you so much you for your reply. I am pleased to hear your gp is with you on this.I take four separate medications i need certain brands for, including hydroxy. Other brands send me into flare. I have not approached my gp so i dont know if they will agree to cover the cost or not, especially that its more than one medication. Its worth a try, i will call them tomorrow.

Thanks
