I tested positive for Covid last Wednesday 23rd February. I’ve been ok apart from a sore throat, very sore and dry mouth and felt like my mouth was full of ulcers. I’ve never experienced a mouth like that before. Thankfully I’m fully boosted.
I was also off my food, didn’t know what I wanted to eat and felt sick, but not actually been sick.
I’m on hydroxychloroquine for lupus.
Oh and I also was very flushed in the face and neck.
Was wondering if anyone on here had contracted Covid and if anyone else had suffered these sort of symptoms, or if it could have given me a flare up of lupus.
On the test strip the line where it indicates positive was very dark last week, but last night and today it was very faint. I’ve rung 119 today to check what a faint line could mean. He said it sounds like it’s going and keep testing each day. He’d never heard of anyone saying about the sore mouth issues.
Sorry for the long post, hope someone can give me some answers please, thank you.

Sorry to here your battling through COVID at the moment, I'm glad its not serious bout despite having some unpleasant symptoms.
As the variants of COVID have changed, so too have the prevalent symptoms amongst the population. Even amongst Omicron there are new variants within the subtype.
I had COVID in December time, and I can only say I experienced a loss of smell, still prevalent today, sore throat and an ulcerated bleeding mouth. The fever seemed to come and go and I was lethargic and pretty worn. But was okay after the two weeks were up. I believe that any illness to some extent flares the lupus, and it is hard isnt it sometimes to distinguish what is the lupus or what is the viral infection.
My mother's family caught Omicron variant in the new year, usually healthy individuals with no issues. They presented as a cold, with a sore throat and mouth being their main complaint. That is apart from my one cousin, who has had a long road to recovery since in hospital.
The lfts will detect the viral load, the higher the viral load the darker the line. Yours is fading, suggesting that you are holding a small viral load, and are recovering from COVID. Hopefully in the next few days the line shall disappear completely.
I hope you continue to improve and that any lupus symptoms also settle down over this week. Hopefully your through the worst of it.
Thank you ever so much for your lovely reply. Yes I think I’m on the road to recovery now and hopefully test negative in the next couple of days or so.
Your reply is very reassuring, once again thank you 🙏
Hi Elizabeth , I’m sure I’ve had/got covid, I’ve tested neg but I stared coughing non stop on Sunday, I too went off my food, felt nauseas and very sore throat, now have swollen glands in my neck, headache and generally unwell, I feel I’ve now got chest infection. I’m taking hydroxychloroquine and prednisolone, so far it seems to be controlling the mouth sores, I hope they don’t start up again.
I hope you feel better soon.
💐
Ps, I’ve also had all the covid jabs, 4 in total due to being extremely clinically vulnerable .
People have reported mouth ulcers with Covid. It attacks your immune system so my weak areas all flared alongside Covid. I had gastritis and stomach issues for months. This is my common lupus symptom do it was Covid but exacerbated my untying issues.
Feel better soon Elizabeth, so sorry you have covid . The pharmacist suggested using corsodyl along with a dab of anbesol liquid and I found an improvement. I hope you recover quickly xx
Hi Liz I've not posted before and I'm so sorry to hear you've not been well. As for ulcers i found (Genigel) better than bongela i suffer with mouth ulcers so know how you feel. I had covid last October was very ill was in bed for 3 weeks lost 7lbs in weight as I couldn't eat took me a long time to get over had all the classic symptoms it was made worse as soon as it went to my chest also lost taste and smell but had to come of my immunosuppressents while having covid and for a couple of weeks after I also have APS so nurses were calling to do INR I have long covid which has left me with sciatica in both legs so annoying 😅 have to laugh about it or cry I choose to plow on. I really don't go out much but have now had track and trace tell me I have been in close contact with someone with omicron so need to do a PCR so annoying. I've had 3 jabs not feeling to good I think I have omicron and it's affected my gut have nausea headaches or maybe it's psychological I don't know have to wait but have been told if I catch within the 5days I can have the new tablet out.I'm sorry for blabbing on its really not me lol
I hope you feel better soon and anyone else who has covid it can be a bitch
I thought I’d replied to you with a message. It doesn’t seem to have done it, but the message below yours to me is meant for you. Hope you see it, if not I’ll send you another.
Oh no, hope you haven’t got it again. Hope you feel much better soon. It’s been a tough 2 years for a lot of people and I understand how you feel. I don’t go out loads at all. I do online grocery shopping and maybe just go to our local B & M once a week.
I had just got going out for lunch with a friend and also visiting another friend who have both kept themselves safe.
I do look after my granddaughters one who is at school and the youngest at nursery. They stayed over a week last Saturday, the youngest had a really bad cough and runny nose for which their mum messaged me sat outside our house. They did a Covid test and I was told she was negative, but once inside they told me that the youngest had been off nursery on the Thursday due to 3 staff off testing positive for Covid. Mum knew Wednesday but nicely forgot to tell me this. All I can think is the little one may have been a carrier of Covid and I had been a bit run down due to a very bad infected cyst, that I’m still getting over after almost 6 weeks.
Thank you for the information about what you use for ulcers, much appreciated.
I have done a Covid test this morning and it’s negative and hoping tomorrow one is too.
I had sore mouth when I had covid in March 2020. It affected mouth, throat, back of nose and eyes making them all sore in a way not experienced before.
Maybe in the future this will be a way of recognising it is covid, rather than another infection.
(Also affected other places immediately like lungs and heart, and day 4 kidneys. This was before we had the vaccine though).
Hi! I had Covid November 2020. One of my symptoms was ulcers on my lips and some in my mouth. I still have them, but they are not as bad most of the time. I lost taste and smell, had fever, major sinus issues, vomiting, diarrhia, exhaustion, etc. I still have most of the same symptoms, still can't taste, intestinal and stomach issues, my heart issues that had been stable got worse - basically long covid. My theory is that Covid attacks what are already weak areas we have. Hard to know what is lupus and Covid. Hopefully, you will have a full recovery. Best of luck.
Much appreciated, I have tested negative this morning and hopefully will get another negative tomorrow. Still got the sore mouth and ulcers on the tongue, but yesterday and today are the first days I’ve actually enjoyed my meals and felt I wanted something to eat. The nausea has gone, but I have a drs appointment next Wednesday to check an infected cyst that began almost 6 weeks ago so will discuss the problems if I still have any with her.
