Gone fishing

Spotted this Heron on my limp round the local rowing lake and thought I’d share …… oh to have wings….

Amazing aren’t they? I used to live in place called Melin Court, in South Wales. Not far from there is a Heron sanctuary. We had a house where we bought some woodland area on the edge of our property. Running at the side of the woods was a brook. One day my 14 year old step daughter come rushing into the house all excited. “Quick! Come quick!” She shouted. “There’s a huge HERRING looking for fish and it’s standing in our woods”. We went out and found the most massive heron there. It was standing on one leg and looked like a massive garden ornament. It saw us and started to go. Have you seen the runway they need to get going? It’s massive and they look like dinosaur birds. We have teased my daughter about that ever since and she’s 33 now.
