I’m just reaching out to see if anyone else has been having the same symptoms as myself. First off - I am 50 years old and believe I am peri menopausal.
However, it may just be a coincidence but since being diagnosed with Lupus SLE back in May and starting on various medication ie Ramipril, Hydroxychloroquine, Mycophenolate, Prednisolone, Omeprazole and Vit D3 tablets I have started having horrendous night sweats where I am wet through from top to toe and cannot sleep. I also have hot episodes during the day too. Are anybody else on similar medication and having the same symptoms please?

Hi SamRigs it sounds like you’ve had a lot to contend with this summer and losing sleep to hot sweats is exhausting on top of everything. Those are typical symptoms of menopause hot sweats I would say, based on my own experience but I found that cutting down/out sugar made a big difference. I’m on prednisone as well and that is a risk factor for higher blood sugars as I’m sure you know. A low Glycemic Index diet really helped, or at the very least avoiding sugar in the evenings helped with the night sweats.
Hi,I’m nearly 70 so we’ll past the menopause.M also on Myclophenate .prednisolone and Lanzanzaprolw, along with other medications.
When I was in Mclophenate 2 MGM’s I had loads of hot moments and sweating n the night.
Now. I’m on 1.5 MGM’s of Mclophenate.I don’t go hot as much in they, but I do hav hot sweats from about 6 am .regardless of ambient temperature l don’t know why. Hope shone else knows something about it.
Not really because I take them in the morning. The sweating starts when they kick in about 2-3 hrs after I take them. Night sweats have gotten worse recently but nothing has changed with my meds.
My goodness that seems an awful lot of drugs doing similar things. I was put on Mycophenolate and weaned off predisalone as high doses gave me Glycoma. I now since lockdown with knowledge of my Specialist came off the lot. Lupus is very active at night when it effects the connective tissue so night sweats can happen. However what you describe is over kill and horrible. As I think pharmacies are very knowledgeable ask them what is the best time of day you should take any of your medications as they all have different absorption times. They may also advice you on contra drugs and if you need such a concoction.
Thank you very much for your interesting reply. So do you not take any medication for your lupus anymore? I’d love to either cut them down or come off them altogether.
Hello SamRigs I have not had any adverse reaction to the prednisolone, due to the fact that I am past the menopause stage 53 and secondly perhaps because I only take the prednisolone when the need arises, these drugs do have side effects and I try as much as possible to suppliment with natural remedies like turmeric, black pepper, dry Ginger and a host of others which I use in my tea or smoothie in small doses of course, after consulting with your doctor that is... Plus I think you are in middle of menopause hence the night sweats, a teaspoon of fenugreek powder mixed with honey in hot water first thing in the morning, helped me a lost that is once you get past the bitter taste of fenugreek. Good luck
I am post menopausal and am on Ramipril, Omeprazole and on occasions (as I have COPD and Asthma) I have to take Prednisolone. None of these medications have caused me to have night sweats. I do still occasionally get night sweats so put a large towel in the bed if this is occurring. Prednisolone actually, is known for making you feel much better (in the short term) it is not something to take over a long period as it plays havoc with your immune system, can cause weight problems and so on. I also take other medication that you did not ask about, so I haven't commented. If it's menopause I'm afraid the night sweats are part of the process unfortunately. Good luck,
Im not on all the meds you are on couple of them hydrochloride and omeprasol, and obviously being male not menopausal, lol.But i suffer from overheating ands sweating all the time any light exersise, to heavy a quilt on bed, after a shower even though keep the water cool never hot, warm days i end up leaking terribly can't do anything to prevent it other than things like using 4.5 tog quilt as i said keeping temp of shower cool and staying indoors with well ventilated rooms. Its bit of a nightmare but one a lot of us have to suffer unfortunately.
Hi, I’m a 30y/o female. I’ve had 3 x short courses of high dose steroids over the past 1.5 years and after the first couple of days of taking them, I have severe night sweats which go away after I stop taking them. No other medications at the time. Hope these settle down for you.
I’m on hydroxychloroquine and a number of other drugs. I am post menopausal but suffer from night sweats. It’s been going on for years now, but I thought it maybe hydroxychloroquine contributing. I take a low dose vaginal oestrogen twice per week at night and on those nights I sweat less , so have concluded menopause is probably more of an issue than hydroxychloroquine
