New flowers have bloomed! Time in the garden 🌸

Ages ago my daughter wanted to plant cornflowers from seed, they’re finally starting to bloom!

It wasn’t too sunny yesterday and my husband bought a big parasol so we got that put together and enjoyed some time in the garden looking at all the bees that these new flowers seem to attract. Also saw a whole range of butterflies so my daughter was overjoyed.

Hope everyone is staying safe in what has been really hot weather x

Got my first ones this year ...didn't realise they were so tall!! Thought they were like the forget- me-not's 😯 which sprung up all over my beds 😊...hoping these spread too... Bravo your daughter....ml

cornflowers are annuals so you will have to plant again next year.

I thought as much! Will have to get planting them earlier next year.Yes I didn’t realise they were so tall either, but love the colours of them!

I love cornflowers, and your pic has sparked a plan to grow some in containers, in a gritty compost, next year, as they don't like my heavy garden soil much and rarely manage to self-seed. I will have an entire miniature wildflower meadow in pots :)

Lovely idea, I may try that next year too 🐝

Nice idea, I always used to do that as child in the late 60s (omg I’m so old) 🤣

Apparently they keep their colour best dried but whatever she decides I'd love to see the results x

How lovely. It is so much more enjoyable now that oppressive heat has gone isn’t it? Enjoy xxx

Absolutely! The heat was far too much and I’m much more comfortable now it’s a bit fresher, so it’s good to get outside in it when you can! Xx

They're beautiful tea and toast and your garden looks so lovely. Lots of hard work i bet but so rewarding!. Im glad you've been able to be out in your garden despite the heat. Its cooler now here so i hope it is with you. Keep safe and planting. Xx

Thank you! Not my hard work I’m afraid, previous owner was a gardener so when we moved in there was a really lovely array of plants, sadly I have killed some off! I don’t even know what they all are so I used to spend lots of time googling things like “tree with blue flowers” to find out how to care for it! 🤣 I’m certainly not as green fingered as it would appear!
