Hello everyone,
My ANA pattern has always been homogeneous. Last week's test came back as cytoplasmic.
Can the pattern of our ANA change?
Thank you,
Irene ♡

Wow! This is fantastic information! Thank you!!
I'm sorry, I have absolutely no idea what this means. Should I? It could be a foreign language. Should I know this stuff? If so, who should be telling me? Sorry I'm no help.
Hi Irene. I’m sure they can change. Different stains can be indicative of the same diagnosis. Homogenous is a common one. Pure cytoplasmic is typically associated with myopathies and anti-mitochondrial antibodies.
In lupus, we attack various parts of everything so any staining is virtually possible for us. It’s better to probably look at specific antibodies and staining patterns to help form a complete clinical picture.
Hope this helps and you’re feeling okay. Sending hugs. ❤️xx
