I'm Fran, I'm 50 years old and currently still being assessed for lupus. (Lockdown has a big hand in this!) I am currently on hydroxychloroquine, which I've been on for a year now, and I take Gabapentin and Diclofenac for joint pain which I experience a lot of.
My mum had SLE so I always knew there was a chance of me having inherited it too!
Until recently I've kept in relatively good health, and had nothing more than an underactive thyroid, but lately I've been experiencing an intense amount of joint pain. I'm an extra care team leader, I've worked in the care sector 16 years now, my work is my sanity, but slowly finding that flares are affecting my abilities at work. I'm a stubborn old so and so though and just plow my way through!
I look forward to meeting people who are experiencing the same thing as me and learning about self care. Stay safe everyone.

Hi Fran and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear that you have (probably) got Lupus. Sounds like you might need a bit of extra help with the pain when in flare up.
My advice to anyone new to Lupus would be to listen to your body, nothing wrong with being stubborn but sometimes you just need to rest.
Thank you so much for the lovely welcome! And the great advice ... I'm certainly taking it all in. I think maybe it's a time in my life for me to put myself first for once. I'm no good to the guys I care for if I'm ill... my gp had suggested last week signing me off for rest so maybe a wee callback to accept a sick note is in order. On that note I'm heading back to bed to sleep again, even though I'm only just less than 30 minutes up! 🤣
