Hi Hidden - Yes, Eleni shows a preview of the new booklet in development during the event. We'll be finishing it as soon as possible and publishing it through LUPUS UK.
I did read somewhere on this site about starting new medication and covid vaccine .
I’m hoping you can help with this information
Has I’m due to start Mycophenolic last Friday , yet I’ve not had my second covid vaccine , and only just had my first last Thursday .
I was hoping to get this literature to explain to my practice doctor , has it looks like I need the second vaccine in the shortest possible time , so has I can start my treatment .
You're absolutely right. The JCVI Green Book Chapter 14a was updated on 21st January 2021. The updated guidance recommends that any patients who are due to receive planned immunosuppressive therapy should be considered for vaccination (ideally two weeks) before commencing that treatment. Where possible, it is also advised to complete both doses of the vaccine before commencing immunosuppression – this would involve offering the second vaccine dose at the recommended minimum (three or four weeks). Any decision to defer immunosuppressive therapy or to delay possible benefit from vaccination needs to be carefully considered.
I’ve not slept well last night , just pulling myself together 🐌, coffee and bran flakes ..
I’m just about to phone up rheumatology , this information is tremendously helpful , for my practice doctor in particular . He told me I should wait until my turn (end of April ) shocking really.has now I’m stuck even more with not been treated sufficiently,
Paul does it talk about steroid injections in the green book , do they consider these in the same way ?
The Green Book doesn't specifically mention injections but refers to "systemic steroids". I'm afraid I don't know what impact, if any, a steroid injection may have on immune suppression, so you may need to check that with your doctor.
