Grateful thanks to all who responded to my last post about choice of ways to reduce constipation. πŸ˜€ The prunes worked and are now going to be a regular purchase. I would have thanked b4 now but I'm just coming out of a flare 😩 Which are getting worse with every 1. I must have a word with my rheumy because I can't cope with the amount of pain. So thankful that I have a ceiling hoist in the bedroom/bathroom, as I couldn't move for 4 days. My hubby was great but with health condition he was struggling.

Anyway thank you all as its so appreciated πŸ’

I think it's the iron in the prunes which does it, I know iron tablets give me upset tummy.

Hi Bronn, wonderful news about the prunes, what a relief for you. I am so very sorry to hear that you are struggling with pain. With regards your hubby, have you thought of getting a Carers Assessment? My husband was really struggling to support me and at the time work. I rang to ask for help for him and got help for both of us. The social worker and Occupational Therapist provided toilet raisers, grab rails, a higher recliner chair for me, a floor to ceiling pole in our bathroom and the social worker put me on Direct Payments Scheme where I employ carers and social services pays them for nine hours a week. It has changed our lives for the better. Xxx

Hi Cecily, thank you for your information. We have had a carers assessment done. As regards to having people come in we'll we're not really into having string the home, but 1 day it we'll have no choice until then. I now have ceiling hoist that goes across my bedroom straight into the bathroom and fully across bathroom too. This allows me to be lifted from bedroom thro to shower without changing. I have had a floor to ceiling body drier put in too. I have ceiling hoist in living room too so I can sit on any part of furniture I chose. Its just things have a habit of braking down just when you need them 😑 as so this past week. We have automatic door opening on the front door with intercom. So we're pretty well set up.

Thank you anyway for replying πŸ’

Sorry to hear you’ve been in a flare Bronn and experiencing a lot of pain. I hope your Rheumy is able to help. πŸ™πŸ» I suffer with constipation too and was pleased you’d posted about it. I’ve started taking 3 dried apricots per day and use inulin with my breakfast cereal as SVFarmer recommended I think, and it has done the trick. So thanks for posting. I hope you get some relief from the pain soon. πŸ™πŸ» Hugs πŸ€—πŸ˜˜x

Many thanks Spotty-ewe for getting in touch πŸ’ Tel consultation with rheumy booked for nxt month 🀞Inulin? πŸ€”

Oh that is good news you have a phone appt with your Rheumy next month. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» I hope it is early in the month so you don’t have too long to wait. Yes, I first heard of inulin on a programme about ageing well with Angela Ripon. She was found to have a lot of visceral fat around her heart and other organs and was told to take inulin (a very high fibre powder) with her cereal or in a smoothie. After SVFarmer said it kept her regular I decided to buy some. I got it from Holland & Barrett and although it isn’t cheap you only need a teaspoonful per day. Anyway if you’ve found a solution with the prunes that’s great. Hoping your appt goes well when you have it and that the Rheumy is able to help you. πŸ™πŸ» Take care. πŸ€—πŸ˜˜

I wish I had known about the prunes. When it happened to my wife, who was very ill indeed at the time, we could only get a phone consultation with the GP re Covid 1. Answer was pick up some suppositories (rubber bullets) -- off you go. No instructions, leaflets, U tube, or anything. Make it up as you go along! I am an engineer and initially thought I would need some sort of insertion tool, Then it came to me in a flash --- Bluetack -- but that did not work either. We did succeed eventually after quite a few laughs -- I can now put it on my CV. You've got to laugh. Stay on the prunes Bron. Keep safe & well.

Thanks for getting in touch BeeManShrop. Yes you're totally right we have to keep a scense of humour or where would we be. I used to be a paramedic but cannot imagine having to have to go thro what you did not having instructions. Best regards to you and your wife. Take care πŸ€—

Hi Bron πŸ€—I'm usually pretty crap at recounting stories ( pun intended) I can't even remember if this is a joke..but here goes!!

One day the bum n the head were discussing who was the most superior in the body..the eyes said well I'm the most superior coz without us she wouldn't see where she was going!!

The ears said well I'm the most superior coz without us she wouldn't be able to hear anything!!

The brain said we'll look I'm obviously the most superior coz I'm the main computer..everything goes through me!!

The bum had a think about this n decided that coz he wasnt important he'd give up..go on strike so to speak!! So that's what he did!!

Within a couple of days the eyes were crossed n couldn't focus..the ears were blocked n couldn't hear anything..the brain couldn't think straight n kept giving out the wrong signals etc..the whole body was a mess!!

So the head went to see the bum n apologised saying that the bum was definitely the most superior part of the body coz without out it everything else turns to πŸ’©πŸ˜Ή

Prunes r fabulous..nature's medicine!!

Take care 🌈😽😽xx
