No you definitely don't need to be on long term sick
I am medically retired. I wasn't on long-term sick, but became really unreliable due to frequent lupus flare ups. It's all about being "reliably and consistently" available for work. It was a rigorous process with occupational health and independent medicals, but worth it. My flare ups aren't as frequent now. Good luck!
Lupie46 can I ask what tier you got and when did you get yours?
I wasn't on long term sick but it was made very difficult as I was between jobs so I kept being advised the wrong paperwork to fill in, once it was right it was then lost. After about 3 years I finally got awarded but then needed my manager to sign who I hadn't worked for for 3 years, I gave up then as I had not got the fight left in me. I think it's disgraceful being treated in such a way as I needed the money to bump up my part time wage instead I had to survive on a part time wage for 10 years and sell my house.Jamaica21 I hope you have some help and do keep at it x
Omg that sounds horrendous. Trying my best to keep on top of the paperwork. Fortunately I have been in this position 7 years. Take care x
Thanks i wanted a quick answer but from what others have said my query is answered. I also work for the NHS and they are not quick in moving my claim forward. Will also contact CAB X
