Numb side of face hot to the touch?

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has experienced numbness in the face. My left cheek has been going numb for last couple weeks. Its not painful, just a pins and needles type of numbness. Ive noticed today that my cheek is also really red and hot to touch. Is this just a sign of a flare up? I saw some similar questions being asked but wanted to know what everyone done about this?

Might not be related at all, but last couple weeks i have also been getting a sharp stabbing pain in the back right part of my head. It lasts for a few seconds then goes away, but my most recent one reduced me to tears. Ive had my hospital check ups cancelled due to covid, so basically sat worrying about all this. Any advice is welcome.

If your face is hot I would worry about an infection, it could be due to a tooth or a salivary gland possibly. I would get it checked out either by your gp or dentist if you can . In the meantime would rinsing with salt water help ? Best wishes

That sharp pain that suddenly comes and goes is neuritis. This can happen for a number of reasons. Eating an acid sweet and laughing( it isn't funny) as the pain is felt in the TMJ joint of the jaw. Dentists tend to damage this joint by over widening during dental treatment and damaging the facial nerve sometimes for a long time. The inflammation would seem to indicate an infection however. An old root canal or abscess or maybe a wisdom tooth causing you grief. All could cause pain rather than pins and needles though. Get an xray from either GP or dentist and review your pain medication at the same time. Meanwhile gargle with hydrogen poroxide 6%. Twice daily.This will help keep your mouth clean and bubble away infections of your throat and mouth. Flossing good too.
