Here is a New Year’s toast to you! I can’t thank you enough for your article from Graham Hughes on APS. Like you, I am antibody positive but, thankfully, no clots. In the last paragraph, Professor Hughes addresses the problem his patients have with long-haul flights - something my doctors have tried to understand with me for a long time. Now my neurologist writes in my chart that, though mechanism not understood, K is able to tolerate long haul flights with prednisone. This is not science, just experience. It was impressive how my doctors just trust Graham Hughes’ vast experience.

Happy New Year Kay!!! So glad that article was helpful. It’s a great summary of all the weirdo neuro mystery symptoms that we seem to have. Steroids take away my livedo almost immediately and improve cognition beyond just the euphoria some experience. So much is still unknown. We need more experts. Hughes can’t live forever.

But his expertise and listening skills does live forever. It really was remarkable how my doctors just sort of deferred to the « expert. » Dr. Hughes suspects it is hypoxia that causes these symptoms but advocates for further studies.

Happy New Year Barbara 🤗 I was just thinking about u this morning..I wonder if I can ask u a question? I posted up a while ago about Alendronic Acid n I remember u saying that it wasn't for u..can I ask u why it didn't work? I've been taking it for three weeks n I'm getting bad side effects. One more question..do u take an alternative bone protector?If you've got a sore heid take your time replying but I would be very interested to know!! 🌈😽😽Xx

Haha, sore heids from drink are a distant memory! One drink and I’m asleep these days. I managed one rhubarb gin with ginger ale last night! I took the alendronic acid for three weeks but felt sick and dizzy shortly afterwards. The last time I almost passed out then had a horrible vertigo attack. I saw a doctor ( not the ⭐️ GP) the next day and she ruled out lots of nasty things but couldn’t say what had caused it but accepted it might have been the alendronic acid. So she gave me a prescription for another type which she said was ‘more gentle ‘. However I decided I was on enough meds and, as I hadn’t had a bone scan due the pandemic so no one knew if I needed this or not, I decided not to take it. I haven’t had any more funny turns since so who knows?

I’d like to reduce pred before I take anything else. I dropped from 10mg to 9 and 1/2 last week so 🤞 fingers crossed. I know it will be a long process but it’s a start.

Lovely bright day here and the sun is dropping now so I might go for a wee daunder and blow the cobwebs away. Love to you and yours for 2021. B xx

Bless ya thank u Barbara 🤗 it's good to know that there's something gentler out there!! I haven't had a DEXA scan either!! N I feel the same way as u..do I need it or not? It's causing a lot of problems n looking at the leaflet I seem to be having side effects. Enjoy your wee donder 🌈😽😽xx

Aww bless ya Meg 🤗 happy new year to u..n thank u for thinking about me. Unfortunately I'm still having a 💩 time..spent all day n night yesterday in bed sleeping..been getting horrendous stomach cramping, vomiting, hot n cold sweats..hey ho..this too will pass!! 🤞🌈😽😽Xx

Maybe it's time to contact your GP or even A and E? I know it's NY day, but this has gone on for a while now (soz to sound like your mum!!). Take care, but please don't hesitate to ask for help. xxx😻😻😻

It's so hard to know whether it's a stomach bug or side effects from Alendronic Acid but thanks for the advice mum 😹🤗 at least I'm up out of bed today n I will contact the doctor next week..I've got a rheumy appt on Tuesday but don't know whether that will go ahead now as I'm sheilded again!! 🤷🌈😽😽Xx

OK, but please ask for help if you need it. Even a very brave warrior can only take so much! It may indeed be the Alendronic Acid (forgotten you were taking this) causing a tummy upset - do ask your rheumy. 👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

I think it could be a bit of both?!? It's so hard to know isn't it? I don't usually get stomach cramps n vomiting with my flares but before this happened my skin was flaring quite badly on my feet!! It's hard to distinguish these things sometimes. I've been looking at the AA leaflet today though n I am getting side effects..quite a few of them so I'm gonna leave it off for now until speak to GP.Thanks for the cwtches..big cyber 🤗🤗🤗backatcha hun 🌈😽😽xx
