My hospital’s neurology department has formulated a risk calculator to help doctors decide how patients might be prioritized for vaccination. It was based on pre existing conditions and ages of deceased covid patients. mdcalc.com/veterans-health-...

Very interesting. You can see how some patients with rheumatologic diseases are going to have very high risk because the numbers will start adding up - diabetes from steroids, stroke, lung and kidney issues.

This is why we have to hope the vaccine is safe for most people.

In March a lot of my gay male friends under 55 were hard hit by infection and sadly two died and I noticed many famous gay men were hit hard too. AIDS give you a plus 6 risk, the highest of any preexisting it seems.

With my age I still have a pretty low chance of dying, luckily. I am at 4 percent risk. My dad is at very high risk if he is infected.

So sad. Very sorry about your friends’ deaths. AIDS still does damage. Your four percent is still high. Any symptoms, call your doctor. The regeneron cocktail seems effective if high risk people take it early.

My mask never comes off at work. I eat and drink only outside or in bad weather in my car. I feel pretty good about masks working as I have been in close contact with a few fellow staff that on the first day of school came to work infected. They went out for drinks before school started, SMH! You stay safe too. Xo

It does seem like fomites are pretty low transmission risk, but we know aerosol and droplets 💧 are bad juju. You’re being smart and acting responsibly by doing what you can when you have to be around people. Keep on keeping on! I am so sorry for those lost to this wretched virus (and the fallout that comes with it). I hope and pray you are protected. Hang tight! 😷🤞🏼🙏🏼💪🏽
