I live in N.I and see my neurologist and rheumatologist within the Belfast Trust. I have SLE/Vasculitis and as with most of you a whole host of other cling ons. My latest neurologist (I’d never seen her before and was put on her list after my own neuro retired ) was awful, tried to write me off as FND without examination or tests. That’s a whole different story. Anyway after discussion with rheumatologist etc the head of neurology decided they don’t have the specialist knowledge to treat CNS Lupus which is what I was originally diagnosed with prior to my exam with the nightmare neurologist. So the upshot is I’m being sent to England to see a neurologist who specialises in lupus. His name is Prof Neil Scolding in Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Has anyone had any dealings with him or even heard of him? Hope everyone is holding on and keeping safe. Love, Terri X

Hi eekt, thanks for reply. I know hundreds of neuro patients are being rediagnosed with FND seemingly to effectively stop their meds and discharge them back to their GP. I run a Facebook group for neuro patients and have stats that would curl your hair. It’s difficult to know what to do, we’ve escalated our concerns as high as we can, and it ways heavily on me. Whole other story eekt. T xxxx
So sorry 😐 fnd or fibro are being dished out like sweets , unfitting to many and just unacceptably , so sorry it’s been dished to you too and I just don’t know how to get past these situations. I don’t have anything to offer sadly regards to who you are seeing in Bristol but wish you good luck with appointment and hope you get better help than you’ve had from nightmare neuro, I know the feeling, I’ve had nightmare rheumy.
Spotty had a great idea. Since no one knew Dr. Scolding so far, I looked at his bio. I completely understand why they are sending you to him. He has an interest in « inflammation in the nervous system. » There are not many neurologists who have expertise in autoimmune disease, which is why they want him to evaluate and treat you. Fortunately, it is a growing field. We now have a few fellowship programs in the US run by doctors like him.
Really happy for you that your rheumatologist is seeing to it that you get the best care.
