Hi Ibrar132

I remember first taking them and seeing a result within the first week, possibly after 2-5 days it starts kicking in. I remember my Malar rash on my face going within just 1 day.

Hope this helps.

Stay Safe

Depends on the reason for the steroids. Give about a week but you should see some easing out in a few days. 2 to 3 days maybe.

Took me two days to notice a difference.

Forgive me, I was awake all night so I'll keep this brief. But I wish someone had told me these things when I started pred.

1. It works but it has side effects

2. If you want to avoid weight gain try to avoid too many carbs.

3. High protein diet to keep muscles strong.

4. Drink plenty of water try to avoid sugary drinks.

5. You may suffer insomnia.

6. Depending on how long you are on pred for it may be difficult to taper and you may get the sweats and mood swings. I personally became a human tap and just cried for no reason. This is normal.

Don't be frightened by what I am saying. The reason I am sharing my experience is that I couldn't work out what was happening to me. I thought I was going mad but it was the side effects. You might not get any side effects at all. Pred has really saved me from severe inflammation many times and I am on a dose of 9.5mg now. But I think when it was given to me I should have been told about what it can do to other parts of your body, so I'm just trying to pass that on.

How long are you on it for, do you know? It's an incredible anti inflammatory medicine.

If you come across any hurdles I'd suggest that you keep posting on here because there are ways around certain pred related problems.

Best of luck!

Hi ibrar132 hope you are ok. I have been on steroids for over 15 years. I started off 15mg daily l think it took about 3 weeks to kick in then the inflammation eased l gradually reduced them and now l take 2mg a week which is a maintenance dose and helps me remain relatively active. My sides affects were bruising easily and thin skin if l knocked myself my skin would tear. As I’m now on a low dose that has improved and no longer happens. Make sure you take calcium supplements to protect your bones, your consultant should have prescribed that. Good good.

Depends how big inflammation and how ypu respond to them. You should see some effect within a couple of days usually. Im assuming you are not in too bad shape as 15 mg is pretty low dose, so it might take longer...you will see soon 😉

Hi ibar132! How are you getting on? I too started a 3 week course around the same time as you. As yet for me though not much has changed 😢
